must have...

for mothers-to be..is what the NY times claims of this Louis Vuitton Diaper Bag in todays online edition...retailing for only $1800 (center image). Of course, you my dear friend, could buy me that for a shower gift, but you must be aware that if you make such an attempt, this sucker will be on ebay, faster than you can say 'beetlejuice beetlejuice beetl...'

:)

oh and the other item there is just a cartier leather band that soon to be dads can buy for their soon to be mother-wives for mothers day -with or without diamond of course.

april 25 : its a go from IDAHO!

elizabeth ploppert, my aiga friend / ingram micro colleague & recruiter has sent some treats for swindubaby today!

timely as it is, i was just thinking about compiling some relaxing tunes to have when swindubaby is here and today elizabeth sent in her box a cd of baby relaxing music. thank you! a very soft and cute rattle/blankie, picture frame and heat sensing rubber duckie :)

it was thanks to elizabeths persistence that i was able to get a job as a designer at ingram micro..and that was one of the best things that could have happened in my life as it created the chance to meet so many awesome people that i still call friends today. and elizabeth was always the responsible one on our aiga board and helped out so much!

and now elizabeth is another orange county runaway..having recently moved to the vast lands of idaho with her family. wishing her happiness and fun in her new adventure! and thank you so much for your kind gifts for swindubaby! ;)

april 25 : another desert delivery

zahra and shaelin : my friends from arizona sent some very cute items for swindubaby today!
an album, softer than soft bib, softer than soft yellow overall and blue/green top. thank you!!!

what can i say about these sisters? they are too sweet and always smiling and taking one million photos! heh heh.
zahra sat behind me in our first class/first day of college at ASU. it was english class and it was evident then that she wanted to be my friend-since she sat right behind me, when there were so many other chairs to choose from! hah! but seriously, that was the begining of a very special friendship and her sister shaelin just had to be part of our fun as well! but i think thru the years shaelin and i developed a special friendship as we were the only ones that never had serious boyfriends and figured we would be spinsters on rocking chairs for the rest of our lives! drama queens, yeah you can say that. and now we see that both of us have found our prince charmings and are as happy as can be!

my years in arizona were fun thanks to these girls and even after i graduated and left the dry heat we managed to travel to istanbul and athens for a weeks worth of memorable fun in the mediterranean! a trip we will NEVER forget. efendum!

thank you dear friends for your friendship and this lovely gesture for swindubaby :)

:cribs: swedish style

well, after much searching and thinking...a trip to the largest IKEA (stockholm) in the world yesterday proved to be the place where swindubaby would get it's crib. its basic, its white and its just right. thank goodness i married someone who actually enjoys putting furniture/things together...because i've NEVER had the patience to put together anything from IKEA.

the crib : hensvik :

i've always loved the odd names IKEA comes up with. although a lot of the words are 'swedish' - but thats something i know now. before it was just funky! we haven't bought any bedding yet and have no color schemes to follow, so if any friends have a yearning to send sheets, im sure we'll be more than happy to use them. from what i've heard from my 'mama' friends, bedsheets can be something of a major necessity with the many cleanup sessions :)

christina : from its a dry heat, arizona : april 2

christy..christy..christy...what can i say?
good golly its BOPPY!

thank you...thank you..thank you! and baby papsan? too much!!!

we are overwhelmed with your kindness and baby gifts...and know that you now are in the midst of all that we will be soon, taking care of new baby. christy & mike are parents to beautiful, 4 week old isabella.

christina is my best friend from my college days at asu. we were neighbors in tempe,az that became friends for life. i wouldn't have had the time of my life there if fate hadn't shined the rental gods on me to live at the Quadrangles complex and have us meet. christy and her husband mike also made the ultimate trip to visit us last year here in sweden in march when it was minus 22 degrees! now for the desert folks..that's frigid!

thank you for visiting us and thank you for your generous gifts for our soon to be swindubaby. he/she will be eagerly waiting to visit his/her arizonian cousin, isabella soon :)

thank you maez's and look out for that crane!

sarah kerr : from england with love : april 2

sarah kerr, she is my bubbly friend in england. married to a friend of a friend and then 'poof' we've become buds thru the years and her wedding to jim was our highlight in jolly olde in 2005. we received Royal Mail(always sounds so posh) today as she was too sweet in sending us some cute onesies and the most coveted of all CADBURY'S EASTER CANDY! yum. we'll have to consume the candy before swindubaby arrives, its getting warmer here and we wouldn't want it to melt ;)

thank you jim & sarah!

true friendships

Initially, i created this blog and my other 'gravid' (swedish for pregnant) blog to allow my friends from different stages in my life and different places in the world to come to me. Sound selfish? Well, absolutely! But its free, so case closed. i'm an only child, so the world has revolved around me for decades now, but that 'only child' tag also meant that i would develop friendships that become the family i created for myself because I wanted YOU in my life and so this is a part of that experience.

Getting closer everyday to the new life that is upon us, makes me also sit down more, relax and ponder the future and realize that everything has a time, place and reason. And it takes a certain 'certainity' to say that and be one with it. I can say without any doubt in my mind that I have been at the happiest in my life after meeting my beloved JP. He is what has made me see 'me' and allowed me to be 'me' and love me for 'me' like all my friends have done and continue to do. This also means that one cannot get to this place without putting any effort or energy, i have done that with my friends and will continue to do that as long as I live. You, my friends mean the world to me and i thank you for it.

This explosion of deep thoughts comes today after receiving a VERY thoughtful email from my graphic design college buddy, Ingrid-whom i got to know really well only my last semester at ASU but have been in touch with ever since. She lives in Seattle with her baby Holland and husband Charlie and is just one of the funniest females I know. She sent me an email that allows me to share that its not just material things that make a 'virtual shower' function but the 'thoughtful words of encouragement, kindness & love' that makes friendship a very beautiful thing. I share her email here, as I feel it deserves to be read by all:

Oh my dear Princess Yamini,

I've just peeked at your blog and find myself overwhlemed with a mixture of emotions. Most notibly, I am incredibly excited for you because I know the adventure that lies ahead. I can “hear” the anticipation, joy, love, and excitement in your words, and I know exactly where you are right now. Isn’t it fun? Next (in order of magnitude) is a feeling that I must tell you to enjoy this time you have. The thought of being able to assemble such a wonderful (and pretty!) blog is unimaginable for me at this juncture in my life. I assume you are busy now, but believe it or not you will become more busy than you ever thought possible very soon. I know people have probably said this to you, but let me say it again. Set aside time for yourself, for your husband, for your life and savor it now. Be selfish. Spend time in the bathtub. Linger at the grocery store. Talk on the phone. Read. Organize your CDs. Write a letter. Run multiple errands in one afternoon. Cook great food. And sleep my friend. Sleep well. I know this is a concept that you will not truly appreciate until you’re on the other side of this fence called parenthood (at least that’s how it was with me) but heed my advice. I heard it, but I didn’t really realize what everyone was saying. I do not mean to scare you, rather, my intent is to help you. Really live your life as it is now and make a note to remember it. Let it sink in. In a few short weeks it will change dramatically and never be the same. Swindubaby will melt into your hearts and turn your whole world upside down. It is a fantasic adventure with all sorts of amazing things, but it’ll be different...and that’s okay. Take these final weeks of your pregnancy to enjoy and make mental notes of who you are today. The most amazing, life altering thing is about to happen and there’s no turning back.

Thank you Princess Yamini for creating such a wonderful blog for all of us. It feels like we are with you during this very exciting time and I love to see all the photos! You look beautiful BTW! I can’t wait to meet swindubaby!

thank you ingrid. you made my day.
